Day 128 Anxiety, Indecision and Depression

There is no end in sight and I have crossed over the border from excitement to no longer wanting to be around Zephyr during the day.

The electrical just keeps on crashing.  Jack--the electrician--needs to talk to the folks that serviced our battery monitoring system.  It is giving readings off the chart.  No where near correct.  He isn't sure whether it is the meter or a stray wire that has gone bad or was originally bad and just got worse.  He says that he will be done with the AC power systems as of today and wants to start on the SSB radio.  We still don't even have lights in Zephyr.  I would prefer that he gets all the DC systems back up and running before we even look in the boxes of the radio.  Other than having 110 power to the outlets and inverter, nothing else on the 12 volt system works.  I need to talk to him today and see if we can finish one project before we start on the next.

At this rate, God only knows when we may actually get out of here.  If the weather turns on the coast before we get done--mid-October, we will be stuck here till Spring.  That was not in our plans.  While it would have some of the best sailing grounds in the world to sail in, the weather leaves a bit to be desired.  We have talked to the marina here at Point Hudson and there is space for the Winter, we just aren't sure what to do.  Not knowing when we may be ready to launch, let alone try out the systems to looks for problems has put both of us in a state of anxiety, indecision and big time depression.  We just keep getting  sucker punched.  Delays after delays after delays.

I watched Eric-another electrician--wire up the mast yesterday.  Lots of fittings and screws and wires.  He should finish up today at the rate he is going.  Some may need to be changed as the wires for the VHF antenna are very close to where the backstay(wire that goes to the stern to hold the mast up)and if it shifts, as it will, it will rub against the connection and probably break it.

Robyn-the wood worker--is still installing the teak on the bow.  It's all fastened on and now needs to be shaped to match the profile of the existing teak.  He was close in the shop but it needs a bit of reshaping and finishing.

Brion--the rigger--is back in town.  We saw his car yesterday at the shop.  No word from him as to the new schedule.  With the Wooden Boat Festival this weekend--he is part of it--we're not sure when we will see him.  With the mast not done yet, there isn't much he can do.  There are still a few days left of labor that needs to be done before it is ready.

I know this has been a negative post today but there is only so much a person can take of just  not knowing when we will be finally done here.  It's like building(the boat yard and rigger) a house while renting an apartment that has already been rented and the landlord(Mother Nature) has given you a fixed date of when you have to be out and the builder is no where near done.  We can get another apartment(stay here) or move in later(head South after the weather changes and take our chances).    I really HATE being up in the air like this.  It is driving me crazy.  OK, the rant is over.

Tracy went to the masseuse yesterday and got poked and prodded quite well.  As of last night, she could barely move and was in a great deal of pain from all the poking and prodding.  The drugs we had didn't come close to stopping the pain.  She was still asleep when I left this morning.  I hope she is better when I get back to Zephyr.  I don't think she will be since it takes a day or so to get the muscles to relax after the masseuse was done with them.  Tracy said she has the strongest fingers she has ever felt.  Jack--the electrician--who recommended her said the same thing.  Guess I will find out in a few minutes.

Back to Zephyr for breakfast.  Off for a shower and then find a place to hide for the day.  The Wooden Boat Festival is gearing up so there is lots of activity all over the marina.  No place to just sit and read.  I'll find a place.
