Day 155 Alfred Hitchcock or Vincent Price?

As I sit here on the back deck of the ice cream parlor at 6am, I'm surrounded by a bank of fog bringing back memories of of my childhood when I still had the guts to watch the movies of Alfred Hitchcock and Vincent Price.   It rolled in sometime last night as it was relatively clear when I went to bed.  You can look out along the streets and see the city lights try and break through the mist to shed light.  Some do, and some don't.  It's a cold and clammy feeling as I sit here waiting for the Sun to rise.  Today is set to be the last nice day for at least the next five as a rain front is heading into the area--at least according to  weather chicks last night on the TV.  This will probably be the last day for the riggers to be able to work on Zephyr (at least dry) for quite a while.

Jack, the electrician, works quite a while yesterday on Zephyr.  All the electronics--wind, depth and speed are all hooked back up and seem to be fine.  Of course the true test on the depth gauge will be when we get back in the water.  Jack traced the two mysterious sets of wires up to the instrument panel above deck from the instrument panel below decks.  We're still not sure what they do or did but all appears to be well now.  The radar, chart plotter and GPS are up and doing fine.

Oh, a wave of fog just went through the deck and it got suddenly a lot clammier and a chill went through me.  Come on Sun, lets get up already!!!

We took Blue in for her shots yesterday.  She didn't go as gracefully as Snowshoe did on Monday.  Before we even got on the first bus, she was bound and determined to get out of the carrying box I had for her.  She push and pushed and wouldn't take no for an answer pushing right past the duct tape.  Tracy grabbed her and stuck her inside her coat and kept her there with her head poking out for the rest of the trip.  I carried the empty box.  She got a bit nervous as we walked along the highway after getting off the last bus, but all in all did well.  We left Zephyr at 10am and got back at noon.  Shadows trip is today.  At 16+ it won't be a pleasant trip for him.  While he has gotten far more affectionate since we got here, he has lost a good deal of weight and is a very thin boy.  If we weren't going to Canada, there is no way we would have him get shots.  He's been fine since he was three when he got his last shots.  All of our cats have lived into their 20's with little to no shots since birth.  They never went out and did no socializing with other cats in the neighborhood.  We'll see how he does.

Brion Toss, our rigger, returned from his conference and plans on being back on Zephyr today to lay out the plans to finish up on the rigging.  With Jack in the final stages--maybe, we think we will be back in the water some time later this month.  Since it is just the first of the month, we are hopeful.  We've now been here eight and a half weeks.

We spent some of yesterday afternoon at Safeway catching up on the blogs we read and looking for more item that may need to be ordered.  The service manual for our engine came yesterday so we can add it to box of manuals we already carry.

I installed a light in the main cabin on Saturday that works in both red and white light.  The red is important as a night light when you are up and getting ready to go above to stand watch and don't want to ruin your night vision.  Zephyr only had a red light in the forward cabin.  I've ordered three more--one for the aft cabin, one for the galley and a fourth for one of the heads-not sure which yet.

I will be going to Sequim today for more cat food as no one sells what the kids like here in Port Townsend.  With it being the last nice day for a while, I want to get there and back before it turns yucky.  I'll take off after Shadow has his trip to the vet.  Tracy will bring him back home while I take off the other way.  It takes about three hours to get there, shop quick and take the bus back.  It should kill the afternoon.

More fog just rolled through.  Still no Sun!!  The ferry is just passing by blowing his fog horn to add to the eeriness.

Would loved to have seen you two riding the bus with cat in tow. With all the rain your skin will remain young and youthful!!!
